Replacing a Dryer Vent

Ed's clients moved into a condo that had flexible pipe installed as a dryer vent exhaust line.   In a previous residence, they had lost a dryer to overheating when its flexible pipe vent had become clogged, so they wanted this vent line replaced with rigid pipe.  This photo series shows what they had, and what Ed replaced it with.

The flexible line was largely just hanging; it was clogged as the client suspected.

Ed replaced all the flexible pipe with rigid, and strapped it securely to the joists.

To get around corners with the rigid pipe, he used elbows and couplers.
